Autocar Names Volvo’s Thomas Ingenlath as “Design Hero”

In his five years at Volvo, the touch of design chief Thomas Ingenlath has permeated to every new model the brand has put out. With experience working for three design teams for three different automakers—two that he led—his brief tenure with Volvo has been quite fruitful. Now, it’s net him the “Design Hero” award from Autocar.

We consider it an aptly named award for the right person. Ever since the Concept Coupe debuted in Frankfurt in 2013, every model he’s laid hands on has been well-received. In fact, the first production vehicle—the second-generation XC90—has gone on to become the 21st century’s most awarded SUV, and even netted Motor Trend SUV of the Year. What’s Ingenlath’s secret? Using Scandinavian visual traditions like uncluttered geometry, natural materials, nuanced craftsmanship and striking details to create a sanctum of opulence for every driver.

If driving in a comfortable, Scandinavian sanctuary with top safety ratings is your sweet spot, you’ll love the new Volvo models in our online inventory. To vet one in person, contact a sales representative at our Omaha, NE dealership to answer your questions, and set your appointment.
